I actually have a few very neat suggestions. Please keep in mind that I realise that these most likely won't be implemented in beta. Most of my my suggestions will probably be for much later development.

I've tried playing some top-down 2D MMO's in my time, and I mostly love them all. Here, I'm going to list some core elements that most games were missing or limited in:

1. Buddy Lists
Yes, there are games out there that require you to manually write down the names of your friends and guess when they're on or not. Very much of an inconvenience. There is a buddy-list-like icon in the interface, but it's non-functional, and I'm assuming it may be released in beta.

2. Configurable Interface
This is where a few games were lacking, and I'm sad to say that the alpha release of FO was also lacking. There was no option to configure window placement or move windows. It's okay to have the interface at the bottom unmovable, and maybe the future HUD/map; however, I want to be able to move around my trade window or quest window.

3. Keyboard Shortcuts
Most games have some kind of keyboard-shortcut system. The little letters on the interface icons--those should correspond to the same letter on the keyboard. This is probably already being implemented. However, going back to configurability, you may want to be lenient by allowing users to assign certain keys to certain actions/buttons/spells/abilities/macros/etc.

4. Guild System
Most everyone loves being a part of a close community of fellow gamers. It makes communicating and commerce more effective and it WILL bring more players in, or at the very least, keep players playing FO.

5. More Realistic Monsters
Now, this is very specific to this game, and most people might think I'm being a little too... I dunno. Traditionally, FF has had fairly realistic (although stellar) monsters and characters. Yes, FF had its share of abstract (although very cool) concepts, but I'm not so sure I want to fight Turnip-heads. Skulls and Flaming Skulls are damn cool--but Turnip-heads seem just a tad un-FF.

6. Chat Channels and Commands
Have you ever been in a crowded vicinity in some foobar MMO and cought a glimpse of a great deal but it was scrolling up the chat box faster than you could cry? Maybe I exaggerated there, but chat channels really help to clean up the eclecticism of chat topics, and help users communicate with the people that they need or want to communicate with. A simple and effective channel scheme would include about 5 channels: "Main" for close-area-range chatting, "Social" for those people who are very social MMO-goers, "Trade" for buyers and sellers to meet and trade, "Questing/Raids" for those who like to quest in groups or raid mobs, and "Guild" for fellow guild members to chat.

I definitely have some more, which I will add to this list very soon.

Thanks.

A guild / clan system doesn't seem very important at the moment. Not only do we have a small playerbase, but the game itself has yet to be refined. I think it would be better to concentrate on the basics first.

I think that there should be an option to reset all your allocated stat points, obviously for a price. This price could multiply as you level up.

Narratively, that makes no sense. Who are you giving the money to? It would make more sense if you had to pay experience points to do so.
